Save a life. Adopt from a shelter.
About our Wonderful Dogs
Our dogs come in all shapes and sizes and range in age from a year to 13 years. Some were found as strays, many were rescued from neglectful or abusive situations, some were surrendered by their owners and more recently we have taken in a few who were on death row at one of Quebec’s many overcrowded municipal pounds. Whatever their history, all of our dogs are now loved and safe and will remain in our care until they find a permanent home that is well suited to their particular needs and where we can be sure they will spend the rest of their lives loved, safe and happy.

Doobie is a 7(ish) year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. He doesn't ask for much but he deserves to be spoilt. Before coming to our shelter, Doobie lived with an owner whose priorities were a little askew which meant poor old Doobie didn't always get the love and attention he needed. Doobie needs a home with someone who can help him make up those lost years and provide him with lots and lots of love (and maybe some toys!). Doobie is good with cats and other dogs although he does have a bit of a small dog complex and sometimes tries to act a little tougher than he really is. He would be fine in a home with older kids who will love him and play with him but who understand that despite his cute little face, he isn't a toy. He really enjoys going for walks and is good on the leash. Do you have a little place in your heart to love a dog who really deserves to know what it means to be the king (Charles Spaniel) of the castle. |

Linus is an 8 year old shepherd/lab mix. For some reason, one we cannot begin to even fathom, in his years at our shelter, sweet, sweet Linus has not received one single adoption inquiry. It certainly has nothing to do with him! Simply put, Linus is a great dog with an even greater spirit and love of life. He is big ball of goofy love and will so appreciate the person or family that finally gives him a home to call his own. Linus has a heart of gold and will never take the simple pleasures in life for granted. Be it a walk in the park, an afternoon in the country, a quiet nap, a warm sunny spot on the front balcony, a shared slice of pizza or a friendly pat on the head he will cherish it all. You'll know just how happy he is when he leans up against you, tilts his head upward and gazes into your eyes with a look that says "thank you for choosing me!" Linus is big but well behaved, walks nicely on the leash and gets along well with most other dogs. Please help us give this boy a place to finally call home. |

Flo is a stunning mix of doberman and, or so we were told, sharpei. Maybe, maybe not but whatever the mix it worked out very well for this gorgeous 3 year old girl. You can't really tell from this photo but her ears have some damage from frostbite suggesting she was, at some point, left outdoors in the cold far too long. Flo has a wonderful temperament but can be a little unsure when meeting new people. Usually though, by the end of a nice walk along our wooded trail, she warms up and is more confident. If you give her just a bit of time we are sure you will see her for what she is which is a terrific, friendly, loveable dog. Flo is learning to walk on the leash but would probably do well with a little training once adopted. Flo can sometimes get it in her head that there is something that she MUST sniff out in a tree or under a bush and doesn't hestitate to drag you along with her. Because she seems to have a bit of a hunting dog temperament she isn’t a dog that can be walked off leash. At least not until she gets some really structured training. Flo is calm in the house and a real charmer. We would love to find this beauty a wonderful home. |

Dinah is about 6 and a half years old and is very sweet. She is probably a shepherd/husky mix and weighs about 55 pounds so isn't too big. Frankly this photo really doesn't do her justice. When it comes to other dogs, Dinah can be a little picky and needs to be carefully introduced but we certainly don't rule out a home with another dog. She would, however, prefer to live a life free of cats. Dinah is great on leash and off and really likes her walks but she also enjoys just sitting by your side while you read a book or savour a cup of coffee especially if you are outdoors in a quiet park or backyard. We have no doubt Dinah will be an easy fit into any family but probably best if she finds a home with older kids who will love her but who will also appreciate just how much she enjoys her quiet time. She has been at the shelter for 4 years and she really deserves to find her forever home soon. Her coat does require brushing and we usually give her a shave in the summer. Dinah will be a loyal friend and will warm your heart every time she looks at you with her beautiful brown eyes and her trademark crooked ear. |

Although we see beauty in each and every one of our shelter dogs, from a purely objective standpoint, Monty would probably win top prize in the beautiful dog competition. Not that looks matter of course! Monty is a stunning, cream coloured husky with one brown eye and one piercing blue eye. He is approximately 5 years old. Monty LOVES to be outdoors. Although good on the leash, he is probably best suited to a country home or a home where he has lots of opportunity to run and play SAFELY off of his leash. He doesn’t stray and checks in often - the perfect hiking partner. If you hike or jog and like the idea of having a canine companion by your side, Monty is your guy. He won’t have any trouble keeping up with you not sure however how well you’ll do keeping up with him! He is very well behaved and listens well. Monty is extremely friendly and great with people, kids, and other dogs but not with cats. Why not come by the shelter and take this beautiful boy for a long walk in the woods. We have no doubt he will win you over. |

Slim is a male border collie maybe mixed with just a touch of springer spaniel. He is 6 or 7 and has been at the shelter for almost 4 years. He interacts well with other dogs but not with cats. Slim is stunning with his beautiful and slightly different blue eyes. Slim had a rough start in life and as a result is a little skittish so he is best suited to a quieter home where he can learn to feel more secure. True to his breed Slim is very smart and will do best with lots of excercice. A house with a fenced yard would be great for this guy. He loves to go for walks and to stop along the way to check in and request a scratch. We don't recommend a home with kids under the age of 12 as younger children might make him nervous. Can you be the one to give this beautiful sweet tempered boy a home of his own? He has been here way too long! |

Blair is a black lab mix (maybe with shepherd). Although a little grey in the muzzle, he is only 4 or 5. Blair was dropped off at our shelter when he was about 2 years old. Apparently his owner just couldn't be bothered with him anymore. Good thing though because it was a crappy home! Blair is terrific on the leash and loves going for long walks. He is really good with people but can be a little “macho” with other dogs. Probably not an ideal candidate for a dog park. We certainly don’t rule out a home with another dog but they would have to meet to make sure they get along. Blair loves his treats and deserves to know what it is like to live in a home where he is treasured and will never again be “thrown away” like a worthless piece of trash. He is a good boy and we really hope you can be the one to give him the chance to enjoy the rest of his life happy and in a loving home. |

Mitsy's story, like so many that come through our door, doesn’t start out so great. This sweet girl along with her three siblings and one adult dog, were abandoned in a house that was condemned by the city. Luckily, one of our volunteers knew there were dogs living in the house and alerted authorities to the possibility that the derelict homeowners may well have left their dogs behind. And sure enough, she was right. Mitsy is now safely tucked away at our shelter awaiting her forever home. She is a beagle, bouvier and hound mix and at 7 months is already quite a bit taller than your average beagle. Mitsy is young and playful but has a nice calm quality about her. She is a soulful young pup who we think will grow up to be very devoted to her human companions. Poor Mitsy has watched as all 3 of her siblings were adopted. Mitsy so deserves to be adopted into a home where she will continue to thrive and where she can grow up to become a well mannered little canine citizen. Don’t wait. Come to the shelter and meet this lovely girl and give her a chance to charm her way into your life. She really is a wonderful and loving little pup. |

Last year, on December 23rd, as many of us were on our way home to spend the holidays with family and friends Chelsey lay on the cold cement floor of a high kill pound scared and alone. Quebec is a terrible place to be a homeless animal and Chelsey was less than 24 hours away from finding out just how terrible! Thankfully we were able to come to her rescue and Chelsey is now a cherished member or our shelter family. But as much as we love her, Chelsey needs a home of her own where she can come to know just how wonderful life can be when you are with a family that really loves you. Chelsey is a young girl, probably not more than 3, with LOTS of energy. She is a lab, likely mixed with pitt but is 100% lab personality. She is a friendly, loving goofball who just loves to go for long walks. She pulls a little on the leash so her adoptive family will have to be willing to give her the training she will need. Chelsey cannot live with cats but is good with other dogs and given the chance, will be great family dog. We would love for you to come and meet her so you too can see just how wonderful she is. If you are looking for a fun loving, outdoorsy, energetic, and friendly dog Chelsey is a perfect match. |
